Bridgestone DriveGuard, a Run Flat for Everyone

Out of the Bridgestone’s believe that run-flat technology should not be limited to luxury or high-performance vehicles it perfected the RFT. With this the first full line of RFT touring tyres was offered that can be fitted on any car, a tyre that does not deflate in the event of a puncture - it's called the Bridgestone DriveGuard.

It is the first complete range of tyres designed to allow drivers to stay in control after a puncture. What is more, each DriveGuard tyre has a reinforced sidewall and special cooling fins (proprietary cooling-fin technology), which retains its shape and carries the weight of a vehicle for 50 miles at up to 50 mph after a breakdown. Also, Bridgestone DriveGuard achieves the highest level of wet grip with short braking distances while offering comparable values regarding service life and driving comfort.

The Bridgestone DriveGuard tyre is ideal for safety-conscious motorists, and it requires a functioning tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) to alert the driver about the loss of tyre pressure since this tyre works well even without the proper pressure. Bridgestone DriveGuard is intended for all cars with TPMS, including those that were not factory fitted with run-flat tyres such as Peugeot 308, VW Golf, Renault Megane, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Auris.

The Bridgestone DriveGuard tyres conceptually resume the traditional run flat scheme: reinforced sides to support the weight of the car in case of drilling or cutting. The difference is that in the Japanese tyre these reinforcements are thinner and lighter, while still providing the same support in the event of air leakage. The trick? A new blend with a patented molecule orientation technology called Nano Pro-Tech.

The tyre is available in nineteen sizes (from 185/65 R15 to 245/40 R18) and, as already said, can be mounted on several hundred models of cars, provided they are equipped with pressure sensors.
