Identify the size of your tyre
The exact dimensions of a tyre can be found on the sidewall printed mark. The graphic shows how to read properties and dimensions of the tyre:

SPEED INDEX:
The speed index indicates the maximum speed intended for the tyre. Up to this value, the manufacturer guarantees optimum operation with the appropriate tyre pressure. The maximum speed allowed for this vehicle is given in the vehicle owner's manual; this information can be used to select the appropriate speed index for the tyre. The speed index is the last mark on the sidewall of the tyre.
 
Load Index
Permissible maximum axle load per tyre in kg. To be found in the registration certificate or vehicle registration document or read directly from the tyre (two-digit number). It is permitted to fit a tyre with a higher load index.
 
Driving safety despite puncture
Runflat tyres are puncture-resistant tyres with reinforced sidewalls. This creates the so-called run-flat property. In the event of damage, this allows the vehicle to continue driving up to a distance of approx. 100 km (and even beyond depending on the product) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, even if the pressure has been completely lost. Run-flat tyres even prevent the tyre rubber from jumping off the rim in the event of a loss of air pressure. A flat tyre is therefore still a flat tyre, but it loses some of its drama. Note: All run-flat tyres are marked with the symbol "RSC" (Runflat System Component) and may only be fitted in vehicles with a functioning air pressure control system!
 
Tyres with increased load capacity
Reinforced tyres are designed for higher loads than normal tyres. They can be identified by the designation 'RF' (reinforced) or also 'XL' or 'Extra Load'. They are used on vans, minibuses, off-road vehicles, etc. However, their mounting alone does not automatically result in higher load capacity but also requires a correspondingly higher air pressure. Furthermore, the load capacity index specified in the vehicle documents continues to apply.
 
Tyres with extra high load capacity
The "C" in the term C tyres stands for "commercial". These tyres are specially designed for commercial vehicles. These can be, for example, lighter trucks, delivery vans, flatbed trucks or panel vans. In other words: vehicles that have to move higher loads at a comparatively lower speed. The multi-ply reinforced C tyres are therefore even more load-bearing than reinforced tyres.
 
Mobility-optimised tyres
A tyre with a sealing layer on the opposite side of the tyre tread. In the event of a puncture (e.g. by a nail), this layer blocks any loss of air, even if the foreign body causing the puncture is still in the tyre. It is not necessary to stop or change the tyres immediately at the roadside.

I bought these tyres because I do occasional track days. If I drive hard on a track day the outer edge of my front tyres are heavily worn. I wanted a tyre that would withstand a track day, but still be good for everyday use. This tryre is perfect for this. Not outer edge issues at all on track day and plenty of grip in wet winter on normal roads. My fuel consumption has increased a lot. I do not know if this is the tyres (only fitted on front) or because I am doing shorter trips due to lock down.

For a summer tyre, these are great in the wet, adimitadly there&#39;s still plenty of tread left so this could be part of this. A lot of people said these were no good in the wet, that&#39;s rubbish. Damp or wet roads these still have better levels of grip than a normal road tyre, they just don&#39;t handle standing water very well (As would be expected this this type of tyre). As long as you drive to the conditions you won&#39;t have any issues with rain. I&#39;ve even had 3 days in the snow with these...lets just make it clear these are NOT snow tyres but they done suprisingly well. The only thing I noticed is that you have to warm them up, when cold they seem a bit loose. After a few minutes driving they get to decent levels of grip but you need to drive a bit harder than normal road conditions to get them to full potential. It would have been nice if they were still available in this size with the softer compound. They are on the latest MSA list 1B though so don&#39;t get caught out - some of the smaller events like the autosolos won&#39;t allow you to run with them. The side walls are stiff enough to give some sharp turn in but you trade that off with road noise and a stiffer ride but again that is to be expected. All in all these are great tyres for the price.

These tyres in my rear wheel drive BMW are grippy in the dry, but leave me yearning for more in the wet. The car will &quot;step-out&quot; if I punch it whilst the road is even midly damp. My tracking was done at the same time as having these fitted so that is not a factor. The car will also step out if the road is more greasy looking.

Driving within my own ability and the ability of the vehicle I choose to drive is what I do. The tyres on my car are part of the interface between driver and road. I prefer to drive with the tyres fully inflated in order to feel the feedback from the surface of the road through noise, suspension and steering, I ballance throttle and brake response with weather conditions, road conditions and temperature. Tyres with less grip just dictate that I should moderate speed and braking at an increased rate. Noisey tyres provide slightly better feedback than silent tyres. The road with current traffic congestion burden isnt the place for performance spirited driving but is the place where defensive driving must be used. I would describe my tyres as competent.

On wet roads, the cornering capability is reduced compared to Bridgestones, however these tyres cost 30% less. All in all, for mixed driving, it&rsquo;s a great all rounder, especially since it&rsquo;s very reasonably priced. A decent everyday tyre. We&rsquo;ll see how long it lasts, but seems promising, so far. Noise level is quite low too.

These tyres perform well, they&#39;re comfortable and they&#39;re quiet, but they&#39;re fragile and wear too quickly. They get punctured and damaged really easily and don&#39;t last as long as I would expect. I&#39;ve had two full sets of these tyres but after yet another puncture I&#39;m sick of constantly having to change them so I&#39;ve had them all replaced with another brand. I won&#39;t buy these again and I don&#39;t recommend them.

Unlike some who write stuff thinking they&#39;re lewis hamilton, im not, but im no miss daisy either. Ive driven it pretty hard at times and whatever has been thrown at these tyres, wet or dry, they have stood up to it. Not a hint of losing it. These are the B-Silent Model and they were 235/55 R19 105Y but this system will not let me specify 55 height. These tyres are absolutely brilliant! I fitted them on the rear and they stopped the road noise from the rear completely. I just wish I had not fitted something different to the front previously, as soon as the fronts wear out I will change to these. I have had no problem with grip, despite racing others around roundabouts.

Amazing tyres, grip is excellent, comfort and noise are excellent. the only thing i can fault is that the wear isn&#39;t anything special. Down to 4mm after 6000 miles. My tyre size is 245/35R18 but tyretest will not let me add the correct size above.

Excellent tyres chosen via the reviews by Jon @ tyrereviews.co.uk - they faired very well against the likes of the Michelin PS5s and at the time of buying (Feb2023) the Goodyears were &pound;250 cheaper than the PS5s; but more or less neck &amp; neck with them in the tyre review! That swung the decision for me, more so with the money saving!

Car Driven : BMW 425D 225Hp . Quite quietly from the start until the first 10,000 km they kept a relatively low noise level until the end of their lives. Relatively comfortable especially considering that is a runflat tire. The tire tread still retains its original groove and design but has significant wear points on both edge and there are some small tire detachments. In the few rains we have in Greece it never had a hadling problem or breaking and did not create any feeling of insecurity. in short it is a good quiet tire ROF tire, comfortable and efficient in fast driving.

Sticks well to the road on corners in all conditions at all speeds. Gives confidence. Tyre is 225/40 R18. Not size available in drop down menu here. Built in kerb protection is welcome on such low profile tyres. Good value tyres, have used this brand for years over about 500,000miles with no issues, lasting 30000 miles plus on drive axles and had 66000miles on trailing rear axle pair!

The loudest tires ever bought in 30 years... I went back to seller who recommended brand and model, he replied is road&#39;s fault... Now after just 2000km I am looking forward to wear them out, as these tires turned a very very quiet car (reason why I bough it) in a rumble of madness on the motorway where grainy asphalt is used for draining water... let me reiterate: the loudest tires ever bought in 30 years !! I am italian and was happy to buy an italian product... after this experience... no more Pirelli... EVER ! There are so many good brands out there. Was upgrading wheels so decided to get all new tyres aswell so picked tyres that were of a better make with good properties however they do slip easily on a wet road more than I had expected, give a comfortable ride considering the state of some roads seem to be wearing well although not done a large mileage on these so far, road noise is acceptable, all in all I would say they seem to be a decent tyre overall

THE ULTRAC SATIN IS A VERY GOOD MEDIUM CLASS TYRE WITH GOOD ALL ROUND GRIP, MAYBE A BIT SPONGY COMPARED TO THE CONTINENTALS I AM USED TO BUT ABSORBS THE UNEVEN ROADS OF TODAY BETTER THAN SOME OF THE MORE EXPENSIVE BRANDS AND A LOT MORE FORGIVING IF LIKE ME YOU ARE NO LONGER IN THE HAMILTON CLASS.

Much better than pirellis I bought the car with they are sharp in the wet great in the dry don&#39;t seem to be scrubbing off too quickly a real gem of a tyre saving money on premium tyres of which I don&#39;t think offer much more

These tyres do not instill the same confidence as the Bridgestones replaced. Slightly better comfort wise, but definitely generate more lateral shift and distortion than the old tyres on dry and wet roads. Too early to definitively comment on wear.

By the far the best tyre I've ever had on any car. The grip, particularly in the dry, is outstanding- endless grip really. It gives you such a responsive turn-in, and then the confidence and ability to push for the limit...which you may or may not eventually find. Very safe in the wet too and comfort and noise is excellent. Wear seems reasonable as well. I can't recommend them highly enough. Will only ever be purchasing these again, unless Michelin develop an even better tyre..

I bought these tyres to improve Grip on the previous Dunlops and they have been very good. The wet grip is significantly improved and am very happy with them. They are a bit noisier but ride quality is unchanged. They perform very well under all conditions but can still break away in the wet, but with 510bhp not surprising! They are a big step up in performance from the Dunlops and the Pirelli P0s I have used before. Highly recommend them!

these are on my track/fun car and replaced the 20 year old tyres on it which came with the car, they completely changed the performance of the car, for the better, they grip exceptionally, especially when set to optimum pressure for the conditions, and hold traction under very heavy braking. They are as described a dry weather tyre with the ability to just about cope in the wet, and my experience is of dry track days with a very wet drive cross country the day before a track day which was ok, although i could feel a massive loss in traction crossing white lines on the motorway, and the morning before a track day driving through wet cool lanes which required a huge amount of care and attention not to end up in a hedge.

General tyres – specifications

The Altimax Comfort and Sport General tyres come suited for 13 to 16 inch wheels. The tyre specifications for: 13 inch wheels are from 135/80 70T to 175/70 82T, 14 inches from 155/65 75T to 195/70 91T, 165/65 81T to 215/65 96T for 15 inches and 205/60 92V to 215/60 99V read as weight /height profile and speed and load index respectively. The Altimax winter plus tyres sold at Tirendo.ie are made to suit 14 to 18 inch rims. The tyre specifications range from 165/70 81T to 185/65 86T for 14 inches, 175/65 84T to 205/65 94T for 15 inches, 195/55 87H to 225/55 99H for 16 inches and 225/45 94H to 225/55 101V for 17 inches respectively.
