These are WINTER tyres. If you drive them at higher temperatures (above 8 deg) then they do not work and you will feel like you are aquaplaning. Below 7 deg however and they really start to work as advertised. I have driven on motorways in UK and Europe and use the cars power when needed. You do have to keep an eye on the temperature outside and drive accordingly. When the snow and ice arrives, you then notice the big difference. On snow they are like having snow chains fitted. Same applies with chains. Try driving with them on a wet road surface and see how fast you go through the hedge. Use them as a Winter tyre and they work. As a cheap track day tyre then I hope you have a good body shop handy.

Had avon ice tyres in previous winters. The avons were excellent. Needed one new front tyre and the tyre shop only had wanli snow grip in my size. Replaced both fronts. Wanli............Never again. In the wet i'm probably loosing 50bhp, braking is terrible and cornering i find myself having to drive like an 80 year old micra driver just to stay on the road when i go around a corner!

Beware, these tyres are dangerous on wet roads, they are a death trap. I fitted them to the rear of my BMW 1 series, glad I didnt buy four. I fitted vredestein winter xtreme to the front, why? I couldnt get four tyres to match anywhere. After having all four tyres fitted I set off home. The first thing I noticed was on the dual carriageway, it was like I was buffetted from side to side by crosswinds, the car felt very light on the back end, Im only doing 45mph. I didn`t know what it was. I didnt dare venture over 55 mph as the roads were damp and it felt like I could lose control anytime. I got home ok but on viewing the tyres I noticed thousands of nobbles on the surface of the tyres where they had come out of the mould. After some research I decided to remove the wheels and using a sanding attachment to a grinder I gently buffed them all off without damaging the tyres. I refitted the wheels and went out for another drive, slowly. The first corner at the end of my street has a grid on it, it was still damp, the back wheel hit the grid and slid by about 2 feet, Im serious when I say Im only doing 15mph tops, it was scary, I didn`t hit the kerb but it was close. The rest of the drive was just the same, like moving from side to side at speeds over 45mph. As I came home a different route I touched a damp White line, again the tyres had no grip on it and slid sideways again. Im not sure what the problem is but I think the rubber blocks are too soft, they can be moved by hand quite easily. Its your choice in the end but PLEASE BEWARE if you buy these tyres especially if its rear wheel drive although I cant see they are any better on front wheel drive cars. Steve
