The EfficientGrip SUV is the fuel-saving SUV tyre that brakes shorter.
Based on FuelSaving Technology that has proven its effectiveness in the award winning* passenger tyre EfficientGrip, Goodyear has developed the EfficientGrip SUV. This SUV tyre combines the highly comfortable ride of an SUV vehicle with lower environmental impact. Thanks to the use of innovative technologies and materials Goodyear engineers have combined high performance: shorter braking distance on dry and wet roads and improved steering precision and handling, with lower fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and low noise**, all benefits that positively impact both your wallet and the environment. Reducing the impact on the environment without compromising on performance, makes the EfficientGrip SUV the perfect choice for every SUV driver.
The fuel-saving SUV tire that brakes shorter
Fuel-saving design
Shorter braking distance on wet and dry roads
Long-lasting
Improved steering precision and handling
Fuel-saving design. Reduce your fuel stops and CO2 emissions with the EfficientGrip SUV. Goodyear’s FuelSaving Technology combines a lightweight structure with advanced materials that lower rolling resistance. The result is a tyre that moves more efficiently, leaving a lighter impact on your wallet and the environment.
Shorter braking distance on wet and dry roads. Benefit from shorter braking, come rain or shine.*Special traction resins in the tread deliver increased grip when stopping in the wet. The tread pattern features 3-dimensional shoulder blades that enhance braking grip on dry roads.
Long-lasting. The EfficientGrip SUV gives you more mileage between tyre changes. Its silica tread compound keeps the tyre working for longer, saving you money.
Improved steering precision and handling. Enjoy responsive steering and handling, thanks to the EfficientGrip SUV’s lower weight and an optimised design that maintains tyre stiffness around bends.
Feature:
FuelSaving Technology Tread compound using 'functionalized' polymer 3D blades at shoulders Increase tread pattern circumferential stiffness. Tread compound using traction resins. Lower tyre weight Increase tread pattern lateral stiffness. New bead area shape Computer optimised cavity shape and tread stiffness. Higher net to gross ratio (+4%vs pred) Higher nr of block pitch (68 +#8594, 72) optimised block design and sequence. Staggering at shoulder notches on the intermediate ribs.
Benefits:
Reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions
Shorter braking distance on dry roads
Shorter braking distance on wet roads
Improved steering precision + handling
Better mileage
Smooth and quite ride

The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.
Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.
The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.
With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.
Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.
Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.
